EDITORIAL POLICY
Last updated: October 2026
Intellicorpus is an independent, non-commercial, student-led medical education platform. Our goal is to make complex medical and scientific topics understandable while maintaining accuracy, transparency, and respect for scientific evidence.
This Editorial Policy describes the principles used to create, review, reference, update, and correct content published on Intellicorpus.
Our Editorial Principles
Intellicorpus aims to publish content that is educational, evidence-based, transparent, and scientifically responsible.
Our articles are intended to explain medical science rather than provide individualized medical advice.
Authors are expected to distinguish established medical knowledge from emerging evidence, scientific hypotheses, and areas of ongoing debate. Uncertainty should be communicated where it meaningfully affects the interpretation of the evidence.
Who Writes for Intellicorpus
Intellicorpus is primarily written by medical students with an interest in medicine, biomedical science, research, and scientific communication.
Intellicorpus was founded by Emre Öztürk, who serves as Founder, Lead Author, and Editor.
Additional medical students may contribute articles in their areas of academic or scientific interest.
Each article identifies its author. Where available, author profiles may provide information about the author's university, educational status, academic interests, and contributions to Intellicorpus.
Unless explicitly stated otherwise, authors identified as medical students are not licensed physicians or medical specialists and should not be interpreted as such.
University or institutional affiliations are provided for identification and transparency only. They do not imply that the institution has reviewed, approved, sponsored, or endorsed Intellicorpus or the author's article.
Editorial Oversight
Articles submitted to Intellicorpus may undergo editorial review before publication.
Editorial review may consider scientific accuracy, quality of sources, clarity, appropriate interpretation of evidence, structure, references, and consistency with Intellicorpus editorial standards.
As Founder and Editor, Emre Öztürk oversees the general editorial direction and publication standards of Intellicorpus.
Editorial review by Intellicorpus should not be interpreted as formal peer review or specialist medical review unless this is explicitly stated for a particular article.
Sources and Evidence
Medical and scientific claims should, where appropriate, be supported by credible sources.
Depending on the subject, sources may include:
• peer-reviewed scientific literature;
• systematic reviews and meta-analyses;
• randomized controlled trials and other clinical studies;
• professional medical and scientific guidelines;
• publications from recognized health authorities and scientific organizations;
• academic textbooks and reference works; and
• other reputable academic or scientific sources.
Authors should prioritize primary research and authoritative sources when appropriate rather than relying solely on secondary summaries.
The quality, relevance, limitations, and date of evidence should be considered when selecting sources.
References
Intellicorpus aims to provide references for substantive medical and scientific articles so readers can examine the underlying evidence themselves.
Citing a publication does not necessarily mean that Intellicorpus endorses every conclusion contained within that publication.
Individual studies should not automatically be presented as scientific consensus, particularly when evidence is preliminary, conflicting, observational, or otherwise limited.
Interpretation of Scientific Evidence
Scientific findings should be represented in their appropriate context.
Authors should avoid presenting associations as proven causal relationships unless supported by appropriate evidence.
Preclinical, animal, laboratory, or mechanistic findings should not be presented as established clinical effects in humans without appropriate supporting evidence.
Statistical significance should not automatically be interpreted as clinical significance.
Where substantial uncertainty, limitations, or disagreement exists within the scientific literature, authors should make reasonable efforts to communicate this to readers.
Medical Guidelines
Where articles discuss diagnosis, treatment, prevention, or clinical management, relevant contemporary professional guidelines may be consulted where appropriate.
Medical guidelines can differ between countries and professional organizations and may change over time.
Intellicorpus therefore does not guarantee that an article represents the most recent recommendation applicable in every jurisdiction.
Medical Review
Articles published by Intellicorpus are not necessarily reviewed by licensed physicians or specialists.
If an article has been reviewed by a qualified healthcare professional, this may be specifically disclosed on the article together with the reviewer's relevant credentials.
Intellicorpus will not describe content as “medically reviewed,” “specialist reviewed,” or equivalent unless such review has actually taken place.
Updates
Medicine and scientific knowledge continuously evolve.
Intellicorpus may review and update previously published articles when important new evidence, guidelines, corrections, or developments become available.
Where appropriate, articles may display both their original publication date and most recent update date.
The absence of a recent update does not guarantee that an article reflects the latest available evidence.
Corrections
Accuracy is an important editorial priority.
If a factual error, inaccurate citation, misleading statement, or other significant problem is identified, Intellicorpus may correct or update the relevant content.
Meaningful corrections may be disclosed where appropriate.
Readers, medical students, researchers, healthcare professionals, and other members of the scientific community are encouraged to report potential errors or concerns through the Intellicorpus contact page or by emailing emre@intellicorpus.com.
Conflicts of Interest
Authors should disclose relevant financial, professional, academic, or other interests that could reasonably affect the interpretation of their work.
Intellicorpus does not accept payment in exchange for favorable medical conclusions or undisclosed promotion within editorial content.
If sponsored content, partnerships, advertising, or other commercial relationships are introduced in the future, relevant relationships should be clearly disclosed and distinguished from independent editorial content.
Editorial Independence
Intellicorpus is currently operated as a non-commercial educational platform.
Editorial decisions are intended to be based on educational value, scientific relevance, evidence quality, and reader interest rather than commercial considerations.
References to medications, medical devices, companies, products, treatments, institutions, or other organizations do not necessarily constitute endorsement.
Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence and other digital tools may be used to assist with aspects of the editorial process, including research organization, language editing, translation, formatting, illustration, or content development.
AI-generated information should not be treated as an authoritative medical source.
Authors remain responsible for reviewing their work and should verify substantive medical and scientific claims against appropriate scientific or authoritative sources before publication.
Intellicorpus does not consider artificial intelligence a substitute for scientific literature, professional guidelines, or qualified human judgment.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors are expected to submit original work and appropriately acknowledge the ideas, research, data, images, or other materials of others.
Plagiarism, fabrication of references, intentional misrepresentation of evidence, or unauthorized reproduction of copyrighted material is not acceptable.
Quotations and third-party materials should be appropriately attributed and used in accordance with applicable intellectual property requirements.
Educational Purpose
Intellicorpus publishes medical information for educational and informational purposes.
Editorial content is not intended to provide individualized medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, prescriptions, or other healthcare services.
Authors should avoid presenting general educational information as personalized medical recommendations.
Readers should consult appropriately qualified healthcare professionals regarding personal medical decisions.
